I can hear the influence of Kansas and Rush, especially, but this is still uniquely yours. And if you say it needs to be redone, okay. But it sounds great to me! It's a great production, and varies throughout in a wonderful collage of sound. Improve how?

Wow, I had my volume up and my headphones on and that first scorching note of the intro damn near made me deaf! Warn me next time! Nice production and I'm loving all the change ups in this. I agree with Shadowmom, this is a collage of sorts. Many things happening that all lead to really frenetic yet interesting musical piece! I would have liked to hear it go out with a big finish but great job!

Wow, sounds like 80's rock for sure This is an unpredictable piece! I love this change up at 1:30, fuckin' sounds cool as hell, with those fast drums This part almost reminds me of a video game boss, it would be GREAT music for a boss fight Seriously, this is impressive with all your changes in the track, sounds like you put A LOT of effort into it And that atmospheric part near 3 minutes damn beautiful I don't usually get into instrumentals as much, honestly, but this one was a roller coaster ride from the beginning, great job!!

Coolio, has that early Genesis/Yes/Rush prog vibe to it with the neat interplay on offbeats and timing. Great choice of sounds, has that olde english folky sound blended to the rock beats that sounds quaint and cool at the same time and some neat musicianship...great work !

That'll teach me to listen to a track just after doing nightshift, now I wont sleep! Agree with Guitaroo "Genesis/Yes/Rush feel to this one" I could go on about the symbiotic relationship inherent in the cross-breeding of the unique soundscapes of each of the mentioned popular musical combo, but I wouldnt do that Lets just say the track is a class above. Brilliant work Pete

This sounds amazing. Like said before, it's unpredictable, and that's one of the things which makes this song interesting to listen to. It reminds me very much of Yes indeed, like others mentioned.
If I would hear this song on the radio without knowing whose it is, I would think it would be Yes or any band like that.
Great production!

I hear the progressive rock retro sound in this - this equals anything that was produced by the bands of that era - a great job, love the interwoven sounds and the unpredictability created by the beats. Excellent work!

Wow this has that alluring unpredictability factor..and man so tight and production perfecto !!! This is quite a masterpiece !! This is pure musicianship at its finest. Wow is too short and lame a word to convey the rush the listener feels when closing your eyes to this....it takes me to so many places in my mind im exhausted.

i'm feeling YES as well...very nice arrangement and performance. drum track is exciting but I wanted to hear more of the tom-toms. keys and synths are suberb. this track shows lots of discipline...a musician's best friend. great job.

Cool tune, picking up on the Kansas thing in parts, Carry on my wayward son - just the one riff in there sounds like that. Overall good mix, rockin' dude. I like the way it changes toward the end. Nice bass line in this, too.

This track is fantastic from the very beginning. I must also mention that parts of it remind me a bit of Gary Wright. And from around 1:22, it feels a bit like something from Jethro Tull's "Songs From The Wood". There is a strong familiar, yet highly original flow throughout.

That opening riff is really really close to 'Carry On My Wayward Son'.
The drum programming is really fun. Definitely can hear shades of Yes and Rush. The playing of the instruments is tight and impressive. I really like the slow motif at the end of this.
Very cool work.

very cool track
must agree with the others a grand blend of Kansas,Rush,Genesis and Yes but you can not go wrong with that in my book as those are my favorite bands and progressive is my most favorite genre.
There are some crazy breaks and passages on this song and it must have taken you forever to program this, love the solo around 3:10 to the outro

This definitely hits the spot. I'm still lost somewhere in the 80s so this hits home for me with the mix of Guitars and synth. Very expressive and certainly rich. Oh man, some vocals would be sweet on this.
Nicely done.

Oh man, this is really cool! It really reminds me of Yes, everything about it! Damn man, you've outdone yourself, this is really good! It'd be superb if it could be a 7:00+ song, with vocals, several parts to it (although I love the changes here, absolutely amazing!), and with some really creative lyrics. I love the area at about 2:30, it's really really cool!
Damn man, this is great!

I defintely hear YES every transistion is clean and effortless that's a true muiscian i especially like the crunchy part going into the psychodelic part @2:20 is totally wild and original. Really cool smooth outro wrappin' it up Pete you have a lot of great ideas blended seemlessly here wow great writing and performing. The drums were dead on with the whole song that in itself must have took some doing Great Track great accomplishment

Did you play all the instruments yourself? Just mindblowing throughout I'd have loved a big finale, but the outro would work really well for a fade into the next track. Love the tempo changes and offbeat rhythms, and the at 1.22, awesome

Thanks again buds for all the great comments!
An Zorafins - just to answer your questions...
"Welcome To The Madness" is not a new or even up-to-date piece...
I wrote & recorded this over 12 years ago!!! (& on my dodgy 4track!)
An YES!!! I did play all instruments & record all parts in real-time too!
Originally when I wrote this piece it was designed for performance so I could show both my guitar & keyboard work in a live performance...
I hear what you & many others are saying about a BiG Finaly so...
it is worth letting you know that this whole track will be completely re-done & re-written for the "Welcome To The Madness" Instrumental Archieve Album...
where a number of my old tracks will be re-done & placed along side the originals on a double CD also featuring some rare video footage back-in-the-day!

So... There you go!
Thanks again all!!!

Ahhhhh yes----YES!.....I don't disagree that there are flavors of Kansas and perhaps some Rush but mostly YES IMHO! Fundamentally, what I find most impressive about this is how it stays together----that's not easy to do with all the different motifs happening here. Well done I'd say!

I love the prog sound. I like the many changes throughout this. it makes for interesting listening. I know the drum machine drums were what was available at the time and so on. but a real drummer would of been the icing on the cake. Still, I can tell a lot of effort went into this.

Now HERE'S a song that fits your DMusic moniker! Huge, Stadium-Rocky stuff ala Journey or ELO or some such, with a heaping helping of early-Genesisish, King Crimsonesque Prog thrown in for good measure! Monumental! It makes me want to use way too many exclamation points!!!
Seriously, this is my favorite of the tunes of yours that I've earballed. Excellent stuff.
