I gotta 'Clapton' impression also during the first minute or so, then it transmutated into some Emerson, Lake & Palmer which later became something similar to a Steve Vai tune I'd heard long ago. I like the modal progressions in this. I'll bet this was fun to put together.

Has a cool late 60's vibe about it like House Of The Rising Sun meets Cream meets ELP. Some cool riffworks of the guitar and synth/ewi kind occuring here. 60's sunshine pop meets pro rock meets Foreigner kind of feel

This sounds very professional It seems like all the old songs of the 60's & 70's that I used to listen to years ago is coming out in your music, and I love it Beautiful guitar playing and a stunning arrangement and with Stans contribution with his magical EWI providing such a beautiful synth lead melody (gotta get me one of those)
A superb collaberation by both of you

I have to tell you, this is generally not my type of music, but I like the way it gradually builds and there's something "straightforward" and "no bullshit" about this that I appreciate.
But I think the EWI is off the mark in this song. It's not a bad idea to have a kind of lead synth going on like this, but I don't think the choice of sound works or the way the melodies are played. On the positive side I like the clearness that the melody has, and the brief melodies á la 02:12 are nice. But I think the playing overall could be less fixed to a very distinct and staccato-like rythm.
There's something really "in-my-face" obtrusive about the sound, imho. If you select a patch with more texture in it, that will open up a lot more possibilities.
Those things are the only major detractors, otherwise I think a good thing that stands out is the solid and full-sounding bass!

Hmmm...
I hear maybe a touch of what your saying MR'theblacklodge'....
However...
Overall I think it's down to personal taste!
Originally this was written for vocals but after Stan's impressive EWI it made more sense to go with 'instrumental'!
Plus if you ever listen to bands like WAVESTAR (if this is not typically your type of music I guess you wouldn't...) you would be more likely to appreciate the role of the EWI...
As for the "in-my-face" obtrusiveness about the sound... well... thats the way it's mean't to be...
after all... this is not "The Edge Of Paradise"... it's "The Edge Of Loneliness" (Harshness, Obtrusive & Many other 'cold' factors) not something to be taken as gentle or loving...
Good comment though... I like thought provoking & 'in-your-face' feedback... Thank you indeed!!!

Yeah, I'd be the first to agree that it's down to personal taste.
And it's also a matter of personal taste how you 'listen' to or interpret the song. I don't know if I'm on thin ice if I compare wavestar with tangerine dream (which I like), but if there's a resemblance in how they create synthetic soundscapes, then I definitely see a place for that kind of a sound, in that tradition. The problem for me is that what's left then, in this song, is a sound from that tradition on top something that is completely different. I love both krautrock and progressive rock from the 70's and on, so it's not that I have a problem with mixing synthetic sounds with other instruments. I'm just mainly getting a discordance from the meeting of the sounds here. Not in the sense that there's an interesting contrast between the sounds that can provoke thoughts of loneliness, harshness or a "cold" feeling. They just don't play well together for me, but a different listener would end up at another conclusion

SPOT ON BUD!!!

The fact you understand the WAVESTAR concept is great... however the contrasts you speak of are what define this as different/original an not a 'clone' copy of... I do not like to be pinned down to a set of rules...
an I do like to think 'outside the box' meaning I prefer not writing music in a 'typical stereo type' pattern...
I guess this is where it does get personal...
An the fact that you are able to show & express that with such a clear view defines your personal taste very well explaining where your coming from!!!
TOTALLY VALID - I AM VERY IMPRESSED!!!

I'm hearing shades of Zeplin in here at moments, and at others I'd almost say Moody Blues... definately a cool mix of sounds.. I find myself on the fence about the EWI though.. the melodies are solid and complimentary to the tune, but the tone itself sort of takes a lot of the 'rock' edge off the piece (and I do love some edge..) I think I'd maybe have simply used a more expressive patch, or maybe layered in a second track with a different tone.. just some thoughts. still overall, this track is a damn decent rocker,.. an epic, anthemic piece. production is pretty damn near perfect as well.. I'm hearing some heavy clipping at times, but I'm sure that's just my shitty headphones.. all in all I'd give this a hearty thumbsup

Hi Pete..
Thanks for your visit today at Myspace.
Candace and I just listened to"The Edge Of Lonliness" and I must say it was a great collab. It was the total package...great tempo and atmosphere provided by super keyboard work. The guitar riffs were killer, sweet tones coming from the axe. Production was spotless! A big ole 10 on this one!!!!!
Peace through music...
